Everyone has one chore that they hate...

The house-woman in me is ashamed to admit this, but: I hate vacuuming. With a passion.
We don't get along.

There are several reasons I don't like vacuuming. First, it's extremely hard to multi-task while doing it. I can't work and vacuum. I can't email and vacuum. I can't even talk on the phone and vacuum. Which brings me to my second point. It's loud. You can't hold a conversation and vacuum. You can't hear the tv while you're vacuuming. I could be dying, and no one would ever know because the vacuum is running.

When the vacuum in The Brave Little Toaster runs over his cord and nearly dies? Heartbreaking. And terrifying.

Plus, there's so much that can go wrong with a vacuum. Vacuums are complicated machines that make me uncomfortable - is that noise that sounds like the world being sucked into a bag normal? I don't know, it's an eff-ing vacuum. Bags explode. Circuitry goes bad. Outlets catch fire. Cords get vacuumed over. Therefore, I don't vacuum.

For now, I'll let Matt handle the vacuuming. Or maybe look into getting a Roomba so I don't have to be home for it. :)

Becca! Vacuuming is one of the chores I actually *like*, because it makes you pick up everything off your floor (which I wouldn't do otherwise!) and it's true you can't multitask, but it takes all of like 5 minutes. I mean, I know I have much less floor space than you do, but I vacuum once a week pretty regularly and I'm sure the time that I've actually handled the vacuum has probably added up to less than four hours this entire YEAR. That's much less than, say, the time I've spent loading and unloading the dishwasher - which you also can't multitask through. Maybe you could wear headphones and listen to some music?

Also, I know for a fact that your vacuum doesn't use bags, because I've used it. And cords getting vacuumed over usually never hurts anything. YOU WILL BE FINE! LOVE YOUR VACUUM! My white socks that walk on your carpet will thank you for it.

I don't hate the act of vacuuming, I actually kind of like it...I feel accomplished...I just hate that I cannot hear anything while I do it...call me paranoid, but I am always convinced I'm being robbed right when I turn the vacuum on lol...

Three things:

1. Roomba... I can't even think about those without my brain flashing to SNL's "Womb-ba," which scarred me for life.

2. I used to love vacuuming, but now, thanks to the eternally-shedding-defective-carpet that my lame landlord put in... I have to vacuum everyday if I want to avoid inhaling little floaty synthetic fibers.

3. Becca, I've found you! And thank you for the Valentine! I got super excited about it and wrote you a letter, and then realized that I didn't have your address because I had thrown the envelope away. Because I am a tool.

The Brave Little Toaster! I loved that movie! The electric blanket was my favorite.

I hate vacuuming also.

Mabye because our vacuum is old and not super efficient. Also living in smaller spaces also means less storage space so the vacuum is never super easy to retrieve...
